After cylinder repairs last week, NELPG's K1 2-6-0 No. 62005 was in steam today for trials at Shildon.
If all is well after repairs, 62005 will leave on Saturday for a week’s running in on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway before heading for the summer season at Fort William. Here’s the by now obligatory “coal drops” shot!
I was really pleased when I saw this loco at Fort William a couple of years ago, and especially that it had been turned out at Lord of the Isles. My late father was building a 5″ gauge model of L.O.T.I before he developed cancer. A sad day when I had to let the kit of bits go, but I didn’t have the skill to finish it. It’s nice to see loco groups changing locos around, this was a most welcome surprise! Long may things like this continue!
Great blog by the way, very interesting read.
