Summer poster exhibition – the rejects!

Lorna Hogger takes a trip down memory lane with some cheerful railway posters from our vast collection.

I’m currently working on a poster exhibition for the summer entitled Hints for Holidays, all about seaside holidays. It’s a really difficult job to select only 40 or 50 posters from the 11,000+ in the collection, so I thought I’d pick out a few that haven’t made the shortlist. (Apologies for the poor quality images in this one, what you can see reflecting is the polyester sleeves that we store the posters in to look after them.)

In this series for Ramsgate, girl meets boy and before you know it the little one has come along too!

These posters warn of the post-war hazard of landmines – still a dangerous presence on the beach.

Come along in the summer and see what did make the cut…
