Down in the Forest something stirred…

Anthony Coulls reports back from a steam-filled day in the Forest of Dean.

Last Wednesday, I was a guest of the Dean Forest Railway at the 200th Anniversary luncheon to celebrate two centuries of the Severn & Wye Railway. A beautiful day, and 12 years since I had last been to the DFR. I’m still learning about this new blog, so here are a few photos to give an impression of the occasion.

I arrived at Norchard to see pannier tank 9681 leaving for Parkend past Peckett “Uskmouth No.1”
The replica Rocket undergoing remedial work to the firebox in the works at Norchard. Looks like we need some heatproof white paint for the chimney!
1450 and 5521 on shed at Norchard awaiting the Steam Gala

The marquee at Parkend where the celebratory lunch was held
