Back on display

A railway icon returns to Locomotion at Shildon.

After a frenetic few days, National Collection icon “Mallard” is back on public display, now in the Collection building at Shildon. Cab access steps have been re-erected and after some staff training, the footplate will be open at select times of the day as it was at York. We’ve parked the loco alongside “Green Arrow” and very well they look together. If you’ve not been to Shildon before, or are one of the doubters – why not come and see? It’s free!

With connecting rods back on, air pipe off and having had a good clean, Mallard is ready for display in the main building at Locomotion. We posed it in the evening sun first though!
